Subaru Crosstrek Bed Platform

Fits all model years of Crosstrek (2013-present)

ALSO fits Impreza years 2012-present

A smart, space-saving sleep system designed specifically for the Subaru Crosstrek — finally, a practical way to camp comfortably in one of the most adventure-ready compact SUVs out there.

Crosstreks are nimble, fuel-efficient, and trail-ready — but sleeping in one has always been a bit of a puzzle. This low-profile bed platform is the solution. Designed to fit all years of Crosstreks perfectly, it turns your cargo space into a flat, supportive sleeping surface without eating up precious headroom or making you rearrange your whole life to hit the road.

Designed specifically for the Crosstrek’s unique layout and limitations. If you’ve been struggling to find a solid sleep solution that actually works in your Crosstrek, this is the one.

Built with lightweight aluminum extrusion and a carpeted plywood top, it’s strong, simple, and purpose-built for car camping comfort.  The gas strut allows for the access hatch to lift with minimal effort, keeping our bedding on top while gathering items.

Why this platform works so well in a Crosstrek:

  • Maximizes Space in a Small Vehicle
The low-profile design preserves headroom and provides tons of usable storage underneath — perfect for a compact SUV like the Crosstrek.

  • Hinged Rear Hatch for Easy Storage Access
Flip up the rear panel to reach gear without disassembling your setup.

  • Modular Bed Extension for Full-Length Sleep
Use the extension to stretch out to 74" in total length. Opt for the split-bed extension if you want the ability to have one back seat upright for a passenger while the other side of the bed is fully extended — ideal for solo trips or pet co-pilots.  Or, slide the whole bed extension into the trunk area to use both seats.

  • Lightweight & Easy to Assemble (~60 lbs)
Ships flat-packed via UPS. Just bolt on the two support legs and you’re ready to roll.

  • Built to Fit Crosstrek Anchor Points
Secures directly to the vehicle’s stock tie-downs. No drilling or modifications needed.

  • No Drawers = More Flexibility
Keep it open and adaptable — pack in bins, duffels, or your own storage system.

Assembly of Your Kit

Assembly consists simply of installing the two leg pieces on the trunk frame with inlcuded tools. Thats it!

Prepare the 4 Corners

  1. Loosen black T-nuts on bolts enough to allow the aluminum leg to slide over T-nuts
  2. Apply a dab of threadlocker on threads to prevent loosening
  3. Repeat on all 4 corners to prepare for leg insertion

Insert Legs into Corner Brackets

  1. Align leg labeled "A" with corner "A", "B" to "B", and so on
  2. Slowly lower leg over black T-nuts, allowing all T-nuts to slide into the slots
  3. Insert the adjacent leg into the corresponding corner at the same time
  4. Repeat on final leg assembly

Tighten All Bolts

  1. Use the included Allen Key to firmly tighten all 3 bolts on each of the four legs

Adjust Location of D-rings

  1. Use the allen key to adjust the location of the D-ring by loosening bolt, sliding forward/back, and tightening. *Note* these bolts come Pre-Loaded with Threadlocker
  2. Hook the included turnbuckle from camper's D-Ring to car's D-Ring
  3. Tighten turnbuckle by twisting the middle section

FAQs

camper conversion kit bed platform inside subaru outback with custom mattress on top and mosaic drawer faces

How does shipping work?

  • I can ship anywhere in the lower 48 states. For full Kits with drawers, it costs a flat rate of $500.  I load the camper in a padded custom box, then strap it to a pallet.  It is shipped via freight shipping service.  They use forklifts and semi-trucks to transport the unit.  This is the safest way to ship large items by far. *Contact me about shipping to Canada*
  • For bed platforms without drawers, it costs $175, and comes flat-packed and shipped via UPS.

Can I pick it up locally to save on shipping costs?

  • Absolutely! We are located in Bend, Oregon. Select 'Pick Up' at checkout.  We will then coordinate a time and date. I will install it for you on site, show you how to operate it, and answer any questions you might have.

Can I use my back seats with the camper installed?

  • Yes! The bed extension can be detached from the trunk frame and slid into the trunk. Then, you can raise your back seats.  It's easy to keep the camper installed full-time and not lose any functionality of your vehicle for daily driving.

How heavy are these campers?

  • Depends on which model car you have. In total, they range from about 75-100lbs for kits with drawers, and about 45lbs for the kits without drawers.

My back seats do not fold flat. Does the bed platform lay flat?

  • Yes, the camper's dimensions account for the slight incline of the folded down back seats to create a flat bed platform. The support for the bed extension is a specific height based on your vehicle's measurements.

How strong are the drawers?

  • The drawer slides range from a load rating of 250-300lbs when fully extended, although the plywood drawers can roughly handle about 50 lbs on each drawer comfortably. Make sure the trunk frame is secured tightly to your car so the extended drawers do not tilt when loaded.

Can I access my spare tire easily?

  • Yes! You do not need to take the camper out of your vehicle to access your spare tire. Simply unhook all four turnbuckles from your anchor points, then slide the trunk frame over your folded down back seats to expose the spare tire area under the trunk.
